An Autumn in Munich
It was autumn, and Munich was beginning to turn gold.
My wife and I were walking through the old streets of the city, with no particular destination. The air was crisp, the cafés were warm, and the trees seemed to be competing over which could display the most beautiful shade of amber.
We stopped in front of a watch boutique.
I remember admiring one particular watch for a little longer than I intended. My wife noticed, of course. She always notices.
Later that afternoon, she surprised me with it as our wedding anniversary gift.
From then on, it became part of my daily life. Business meetings, Sunday mornings, family dinners, ordinary Tuesdays — it was there for all of them.
But my wife has a tradition.
Every few years, she chooses a new watch for me.
And there is one rule: when the new watch arrives, the old one must find a new owner. Otherwise, as she likes to say, I would simply continue wearing the familiar one forever.
I cannot argue with her. She knows me too well.
So here it is.
A watch that has accompanied me through countless ordinary and extraordinary moments, now ready to begin a new chapter on someone else's wrist.
Perhaps yours.
"Some gifts stay with us forever. Others deserve a second story."
